The first Saturday of the Guerrilla Collective 2021 digital festival is over, and only a few more days remain before we get day two. We at Retroware are all still reeling with the sheer amount of trailers, indie announcements, and release dates presented on the first day. So let’s get caught up quick and talk about a few of our personal favourites from day one.

Remember you can catch day two on the 12th, this Saturday, right here.

Some of Our Picks to Keep an Eye on

By no means is this the complete list of games announced or shown during Saturday’s stream. If you don’t see your personal favorite or want to see more, I highly suggest watching the VOD in the Twitch link above.

That being said, let’s dive into three games we found particularly interesting.

Lamentum

Guide Victor Hartwell, a young aristocrat on a desperate journey to cure the deadly disease that afflicts his beloved wife, Alissa. Their last hope resides in the darkened halls of Grau Hill Mansion, whose Earl has uncovered ancient secrets and forgotten sciences. He claims he can heal Alissa, but… at what price? Grau Hill mansion will open its doors and immerse you in a world of nightmares where you may be trapped forever.

Lamentum is a pixel art horror game to be excited about. After all, you can’t possibly be this inspired by Silent Hill and Resident Evil and make a bad game, can you? Jokes aside, the trailer looks fantastic (and horrifying), and we love cosmic horror here.

Lamentum is planned to be released before the end of this year.

Beasts of Maravilla Island

Beasts of Maravilla Island is a 3D Adventure game coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Embark on your adventure as an aspiring wildlife photographer in the hidden, magical jungles of Maravilla Island. Explore this mysterious island and solve puzzles to discover extraordinary creatures, interact with them in their natural habitat, and photograph the enchanting, unique behaviors you reveal!

The obvious comparison here is Pokemon Snap, but with photography Indie games becoming more and more popular, Beasts of Maravilla Island has room to stand on its own. The 3D photography visual game is based on free exploration, and players will divide their time between curating their pictures and solving puzzles.

The demo for Beasts of Maravilla Island is available on the steam page, and the release date is set for later this month.

RPG Time: The Legend of Wright

This one is a bit of a stranger outlier, but all the same, a unique indie title absolutely worth looking at. After all, the website allows players to submit doodles that may be featured in the full game!

RPG Time looks to be a Paper Mario like fantasy sketchbook story told through mesmerizing art-bending puzzles and scenarios. The style is all over the place and yet follows an evident tonal thread. Watch the trailer linked above to get a full feel for the game, and if you doodle, why not think about contributing? You never know.

RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is coming to Xbox, Windows PC, iOS, and Android end of this year.
