Epic Games has been giving games away for a few years, using it as a leverage point to get people on board with their platform as an alternative to Steam. While the storefront is still growing and ironing out its own issues, that method of providing a plethora free titles to users has made it increasingly popular over time.

It was revealed however, that Epic Games doesn’t pay very much for the free games. Or at least, the they had not for games that were free from December 2018 to September 2019. And that especially applies to the indie games that were part of the promotion. Epic Games has claimed to be fighting for indie games and the indie game space but its actions seem to run counter to those statements suspiciously often.

There’s nothing wrong with claiming the free games on Epic Games Store. It’s just a shame Epic didn’t throw more money at publishers and developers, especially the indies. If you’d like to help support the devs further then just consider buying the free games on another platform when you have the cash later. Or buy another game from them to show some love.

Yoku’s Island Express puts players in control of Yoku, a tiny postman that delivers mail across Mokumana Island. Players can explore and unlock secrets with pinball and platforming. It’s a delightful combo that deserves so much more attention. Yoku’s Island Express is colorful, light, and fun. It’s challenging at times but it never feels like too much. The game embodies the “just a few more minutes” hook, which is an honor that not every game can claim.

Don’t forget to claim Yoku’s Island Express before the promotion is over. It’s free from 9/2 – 9/9. You should add it whether you have a gaming PC or not since it’s part of your library forever but it’s not a very demanding game. If you have a somewhat capable computer released or built within the last few years then you should be able to run Yoku’s Island Express. Here are the technical specifications from the store page:

Josh really likes video games. Horror is their favorite but they also like other stuff.
