Aeternum Game Studios will release their highly anticipated title Aeterna Noctis on December 15 for all major platforms.
Aeterna Noctis is a 2D hand-drawn Metroidvania that features 16 danger-filled areas to explore, each sporting a unique aesthetic and brand new obstacles to overcome. The game promises over 100 different enemy types and more than 20 powerful bosses to fell on your quest to take down a personal nemesis and reclaim the throne of the kingdom of Aeterna. It’s also being marketed as challenging but fair, promising to be easy to pick up and play but hard to master.
As is typical for the genre, you’ll make your way through intricately designed levels with branching paths and areas you can’t reach without specific powers later in the game. Aeternum Game Studios states that their title, however, will be even more non-linear than most would expect, letting you chart your own path throughout the lands in many cases and decide which challenge to take on next. If you prefer your games to offer you a lot of freedom, this might be the Metroidvania for you.
Either way, any fans looking for a fix should be able to see that Aeterna Noctis has every intention of delivering everything we all love about Metroidvanias – and then some. You can pick it up digitally this holiday for $29.99 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can wishlist it right now on Steam.
